Happy Halloween!

This is by far Choobies FAVORTIE holiday of the year.

Always has been.

Decorations out Oct 1st, nonstop Halloween CDs in the car, driving around neighborhoods looking at the "spooky guys" night after night, carving multiple pumpkins, and going to every kind of Halloween event imaginable.

He's pretty much Jack Skellington in human form.

I'm so excited I get to spend Halloween with him this year.  Last year I came home from the hospital with Tano on Halloween.  Talk about scary!!

This year "our whole family" is going out and about.  Yipee!

Hope this  video gets you in the Halloween Spirit!

Here he is at 3 years old in front of the Disneyland haunted mansion reciting in his spookiest voice,"what the guy says when you first walk in"

When hinges creak in doorless chambers,
When strange, frightening sounds, echo through the halls.
Whenever candlelights flickr,
When the air is deadly still,
That is the time when ghosts are present,
Practicing their terrors with ghoulish delight!

Told you we listen to Halloween CDs a lot.

[Nov 3] What to Wear?

All I said was, "Choobs go get dressed for Pumpkin Carving."

This is what he considered pumpkin carving attire:

[Oct 31] This is Halloween

Our newest little goblin.
Uncle Goosey's first time holding Lainey. He didn't get his Pertussis shot in time to hold her when she was born.
No, I wouldn't even let my own brother touch my baby until he was vaccinated.

Yes. I am that crazy about whooping cough.
We had to distract Choob long enough to whisk Jeff to the back room in order to get a secret photo of him holding the baby. Choobie would flip out if Jeff even so much as looked at Lainey. It was hilarious!
The boys all ready to go trick or treating.

This was the only picture I have of Halloween.

You know the holiday Choob looks forward to ALL YEAR LONG.

I gave the camera to Dan and told him to take pictures since I was staying home with Lainers. When they got back I asked to see the pictures of my little boy trick or treating, basking in the joy of "the guy who takes his head off" and "motorcycle crash" and he said there were none.

No pictures.

I wanted to kill him.

Apparently Dans jumpsuit was too tight to get the camera out of his pocket all night. No more 12 year old boy costumes for you Mr!

Perhaps it was the tightness of his costume that made the occupants of one house assume that Dan & Jeff were a gay couple out trick or treating with their son. No joke. The occupants inquired, "what street do you live on? We're new in the neighborhood and want to hang out with the cool couples."

The homeowners were really bummed when Dan told them they didn't live in that neighborhood anymore. Neither he nor Jeff informed them that they were both heterosexuals. Hmmm.
Choobie's loot from the evening.

If you look really close you can see the largest kankles known to man in the top right corner of the frame. Frightening, I know.

Happy Halloween Everyone!!!

[Oct 29] Day Two- Parade video for the Grandparents

Make sure to listen for the raccoon sound effects as he walks by. Hilarious!

[Oct 29] Day Two- Choob's Halloween Parade

That morning Dan left the hospital to watch Choob at his school Halloween Parade. He was a raccoon. Pretty obvious. Not sure why several people thought he was a skunk. (He can be a little stinker though)

Click on the image below and try not to explode from the cuteness. I dare you.He was so excited to show his best school friend "Ellie" his raccoon costume. You can see why she is his best friend, she was anakin skywalker for the parade. Dreamy. With them it was love at first fight. They love to battle sabers and chase one another around the playground. It makes me so happy to see him playing with a peer at school. Yay Choobers!
When him & Ellie are together they just run and laugh and run and laugh. It is so cute.
Marching in the parade.
Raccoon face.
Choobs class. They are the "ponies" this year.
After the parade my parents came down to see Lainey. Dan had our camera so I didn't get any pictures. Just picture my mom holding the baby and not wanting to share her with anyone. She did let my Dad hold her for a few minutes at the end of their visit. Hee hee.

[Oct 31] Trick Or Treat

The boys excited to Trick or Treat
The first house we came to had a kitty in the bushes. We named it "milk face" and played with it for awhile. Choobie LOVES kitties. He keeps asking for "a real kitty that walks."

Our neighborhood goes all out for Halloween. Sometimes it's a little too scary, even for a three year old that loves villians. Choobie still remembers some of the elaborate decorations from last year. He loves Halloween!

The Choob has been looking forward to this guy for an ENTIRE year. Seriously. He loved it last year and we had to stay at that house for about 20 minutes watching the guy put his head off and on.

About once a week he asks me, "momma when are we gonna see that scary guys who takes his head off?"

It was so fun to tell him, "tonight baby, tonight we are gonna see the scary guy!"

Choob was so pumped to finally see him after he waited a whole year and it did not disappoint. We stayed at that house for about 20 minutes again this year.
He also added a new obsession this year: The bike crash. He can't stop talking about it. His favorite part was "the bloody hand sticking out." Why? I'm not sure.
Checking out all his loot. What a fun family night of spooks and trick or treating! Hooray for Halloween!

[Oct 31] Harry Potter, the Drama King

Halloween Night: Harry Potter

Choob wanted us to be "A whole family of Harry Potters!" So we were.

Grandpa and Grandma came to trick or treat with us. He loves them!

[Oct 30] Pumpkin Carving

We totally dropped the ball this year with Halloween festivities.

Both Dan & I had been working crazy hours and we didn't have time to be the festive McGees we normally are. It was the night before Halloween and I got home from work late and it was cold and dark and we still hadn't carved a pumpkin.

Dan really wanted to carve one and I really did not.

It was late, my neck hurt, Choob had the ol sicky/cranky combo goin' on. Plus Dan wanted to make a Darth Vader Pumpkin with this elaborate template. Something a 3 year old would TOTALLY have the patience for right? NOT! To sum up: perfect recipe for disaster.

I told him if he wanted to be in charge, they could carve pumpkins so long as I didn't have to do ANYTHING. (I know such a nice wife huh?)

So Dan went out to the store to get the last pumpkin on earth, the night before Halloween. He carved it with Choobie while I sat around taking pictures and being cranky waiting for the meltdown to occur. But it didn't. Choob had so much fun! Mostly because knives were involved. He loves weapons.
He also loves to drum with weapons on pumpkins.
They carved and they sliced and they sawed and they diced.

And I did nothing.

It was a beautiful thing I tell you.

The Choob didn't like the slime. We kind of forced him to stick his hand in. Please look at Dan laughing at his sons misery. I was doing the same. We are awesome parents.
Here's the finished product. The template got thrown out the window after Choob got frustrated so he and Dan just Freehanded it. Not too shabby.
That's right, we carved our pumpkin one day before Halloween. And it WAS fun. Thanks for being a great Dad and husband Dan!

[Oct 29] Preschool Parade

Here's a little video (mostly for the Grandma's) hope it makes you smile!

[Oct 29] Preschool Costume Parade

Choob had a costume parade at his preschool. It was hilarious! Here the kids are sitting in the circle before the parade. Choob's classmate was a robot and his costume wouldn't let him sit. It was awesome. Flight of the Conchords anyone?
All the kids dressed up and then walked around the school in a big circle, a little confused at all the parents snapping pictures. Binary Solo.
On the second lap Choob got a little stressed out and kept shouting from the parade line, "I want to give you a hug. Oh Please! I just want to give you a hug."
This is his little classmate Christine. He always tells me that "she has a cute face."

What a cool lookin' group of kiddos!

[Oct 24] Harvest Festival

Choob's Preschool had a Harvest Fesitval to raise funds for the entire year. I was expecting a little party on the grass but it was like the Del Mar Fair when we arrived. They had a DJ and all kinds of games and jumpers and rides and cake walks and food etc. etc.
Choobie LOVED the jumpers. We couldn't get him out of there.

Nothin like a pixie stick to keep your 3 year old goin strong all night long.
See, I can do sunflare too. (That is my way of telling myself I don't need the two thousand dollar camera that I want.)
Grandma and Grandpa came and we all had a blast well into the night. I volunteered to work at the face painting booth for awhile. I apolgized to the three little boys running around who thought they had a "really awesome spiderman" on their faces when in reality it just looked like they had a "really bad case of scarlet fever." I'm lacking in the artistic category. Alex however, is not. She painted the scarecrow/pumpkin scene in the above picture. Have I mentioned how much we LOVE his preschool?
