Old School

So these are some old school pictures from when Luke was like 4 months old. I forgot to post them because they were taken by the lovely Alex. Luke has LOVED electronics from the time he came outta the chute. When he was little like this he couldn't operate his hands very well so he would reach for things by pointing his middle finger at them and the other fingers would automatically do the same and it would make his hand look so funny. He loved to touch other people's fingers too just like ET. Owwch. In addition to his love for anything electric, Luke was born thinking that his dad is the funniest thing in the whole wide world. Dan would lay on his back and then sit Luke on his chest and instantly Luke would bust up and curl his face down and put his nose on Dans nose. Apparantly there is nothing funnier than daddy's face.

Disneyland with the Brouwer's
So we decided that 8 months old is the perfect age to ride Pirates of the Caribbean. As shown above, Luke was pretty happy waiting in line, watching the boats full of people go by, and chewing on his shades. The first 30 seconds of the ride were flawless. Then the talking skull & bones came on the scene and a big drop that sprayed us with water caused our child to scream and cry his way through the remaining 15 minutes of the attraction. He just burrowed his little head into my chest (see photo below) and wailed. I'm sure everyone in our boat wanted to toss us overboard and were muttering, "worst parents ever, etc. etc." We were thinking it as well.
So after the trauma of Pirates, we decided to head over to the kiddie rides. The lines were several miles long for all the rides except for Snow White's Scary Adventure. The fact that there was a short line and the ride has the word scary in the title did not stop the worst parents ever from taking their son on a ride that according to Dan, "can't be that scary right?" Please look at our sons face below to determine his fright level. Try to refrain from calling CPS.

We finally got things right with the Jungle Cruise. Disneyland becomes the happiest place on earth once more.
Old Chums
Despite our best efforts, these two infiltrated our cave, lured us out with a few home cooked meals and episodes of 24, and tricked us into being friends with them. They knew we were weak when it comes to food and Jack Bauer. Paul & Nicole were one of the few new friends we acquired in Hawaii. As most of you know, Dan & I choose not to make friends but we just couldn't seem to shake these ones and boy were we glad that they we persistent. We love Paul & Nicole! It was so sad to see them leave us behind on the island broken hearted, not knowing what to do or watch next. We finally reunited when they came to visit us in San Diego and the reunion was sweet. Unbeknownst to each other, we had both been watching Alias and when they arrived, we were on the same episode of the same season. What are the chances?!!! True friends. Match made in heaven. Something of the sort. We watched some Sid, went to a few touristy spots, and hit up Disneyland. It was so fun to see them again. Come back soon guys. There will always be a special place in our hearts for the southern girl & Dutch guy.

A Tribute
Uncle Tyson and Auntie Alex are like Luke's second parents. Where would we be without Ty & the Leige? Lost I tell you. Lost. We hope they hurry up and spawn so Lukey can have a playmate allready.
P.S. How cute is this picture? They look like the perfect parents.

Out to dinner with the whole crew
Six adults and two little guys all went out to dinner at CPK. They stuck us way in the back corner of the restaraunt. Smart idea on their part. Here's a shot of us with Dan's mom & Carl. Luke got a toothbrush for Easter and it hasn't left his mouth since. He loves it. Brushes before and after meals and most of the time in between. Although not always with the correct end. We learned a valuable parenting truth tonite. When dining at a restaraunt, it's difficult to entertain your kid, eat, and have meaningful conversation with adults all at the same time. Which is why Luke decided to take matters into his own hands and attempt to gnaw through the plastic to get to his sweet potatoes. Neglectful parents find it. Found. Luckily Auntie Shelly was nearby and gave Lukey his 1st cookie biscuit! He would scrape one side of the cookie with his bottom teeth and sogg the other side with his gums. It was so funny to watch him slobber and slather the cookie into oblivion.
A visit from Capozzi's & Hier's
Nana and Pop Capozzi and Auntie Shelly, Uncle Jeremy, and Cousin Wesley came to visit us! It was so good to see family and watch Luke get to know his cousin a little bit better. Nana pushed the stroller at the Wild Animal Park. It was so nice to have lots of extra hands around to help with the boy. It takes a village to raise this one for sure! Dan got the the cutest picture we've ever taken of Luke. It is blown up and in our living room right now. We love it because it just captures his personality so well. As you can see, by the end of the day we were worn out from all the fun.
